Picture Post

Since it's Friday and I'm feeling extremely lazy I thought it would be fun to do a picture post...of my adorable Dafney :)  It's fun to see how she's grown since she was born...even though she's still teeny-tiny!

Great friends + DMB + gorgeous weather = One HAPPY Lady

Today marks Dafney's 28th week in this world!  It's been such an amazing journey so far.  I can't believe how much she's grown & learned over the weeks...babies are so amazing!

This past weekend was a bit of a tough one for my baby girl.  The poor thing has Bronchitis.  No fun for anyone, especially Dafney.  She had been coughing a bit at the start of last week, but when I talked with the Nurse, she thought it sounded like a cold and told me what to watch for.  By Saturday night, we could tell things were starting to sound different & we'd probably need to get her in to see a Doctor.

Sunday morning, her breathing sounded pretty icky, so we called the Nurse & they said definitely bring her in.  Thankfully, our pediatrician's office is open on Saturday AND Sunday.  We made an appointment & brought her in.  The Doc. said that her left lung had "stuff" in it & she was definitely in the beginning stages of Bronchitis :(

She gave us a prescription {comparable to Z-pack for adults} and sent us on our way.  Dafeny wanted nothing to do with the medicine on Sunday when we tried to give it to her, so we had to be "sneaky" and mix it in with her Sweet Potatoes.  She ate them up & didn't even realize there was medicine mixed in :)

On top of baby girl being sick, I was already stressed out because it was my first afternoon/night {thankfully not overnight} away from Dafney & Kyle's first to be with her alone for more than a couple hours.  Yes, I know she goes to Daycare for 8+ hours everyday, but this felt different for some reason...call me crazy, I guess!

I'm not sure if I was more nervous for Dafney or Kyle!  I worried that Dafney would be cranky & not want to eat out of the bottle, or she wouldn't want to go down at bedtime.  I worried that Kyle would get frustrated & not know what to do.  It was stressful.  I wanted everything to go smoothly....for everyone's sake!

Around 2:30pm, my Husband dropped me & a girlfriend off so we could meet up with some other gal pals for the River's Edge Music Festival.  The weather was perfect, the company was awesome & the music, well, let's just say it did NOT disappoint!

There were quite a few "local" bands playing, but our main reason for hitting up this music festival was to see Dave Matthews Band!! Yes, we're avid followers of DMB & we were more than excited when we heard they were headlining Sunday night.  I think I've seen DMB perform 15+ times and they amaze me every single time!

If you haven't seen them in concert, I highly recommend it!

Thankfully Dafney & Kyle survived their time together & they were both in bed when I got home.  I really, really, really needed a girls night out!  I forgot what it was like to have a "life" away from Dafney.  However, I was very happy to spend the whole day with her yesterday ♥♥♥♥

I forgot how important it is to be able to spend time with friends - some of which I hadn't seen in months.  I kind of felt like I was disconnected from a certain {important} part of my life.  So it was so nice to reconnect with friends & do something that's fun & important to me!

Best part {okay, maybe not the BEST part, but a really great part}, Dafney slept from 11pm until 6am; I fed her & put her back down and she slept until 9am!  After being out way {and I mean like hours...as in PLURAL} past my bedtime, I needed the extra sleep!  Thank-you, Dafney :)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

2 Years of Wedded BLISS ♥

I can't believe that Kyle & I have been married for two years already!  Where has the time gone?  It's been an amazing couple of years!

I love remembering our special day & thinking of all our great memories from over the past two years.  A lot has changed in our lives over the last 2 years.  We went from solely being husband & wife to being mom & dad.

I know this is so cliche' but I love my husband more each day.  I feel truly blessed to have found such a wonderful person to spend my life with ♥

Here's to the last two years and many, many more to come!

♥ I love you, Kyle ♥

No sleep...and a 6 month update!

I'm not sure what's happened over the past couple months, but sleep has been decreasing significantly in our house :(

Around 7 weeks, Dafney was sleeping through the night.  I mean 8-10 hours at a time.  We thought we had some sort of miracle childWe couldn't believe she was sleeping that long during the night, but we were completely thankful.  I was finally starting to feel rested and was remembering what a full night's sleep was like again.  It was bliss!

When she started daycare, that whole sleeping through the night thing, went down the crapper.  She started getting up once, maybe twice during the night.  Not a huge deal...I heard that this kind of thing could happen when starting daycare & hitting that 4 month mark.

The past 2-3 weeks, things have gotten even worse in the sleep department {who knew they could get worse?}.  Dafney is now getting up every 2-3 hours.  AHHH....no!!!!!!  I'm tired.

Mama needs her sleep!

I'm not sure why she's getting up so often.  I initially thought maybe she was going through a growth spurt, because she seemed extra hungry.  Now, I'm not so sure.  Perhaps she's teething & that's bothering her?  How can I get her to sleep through the night again?  Or, at least only getting up once....

I'm desperate....

Since I have plenty of time to do some "thinking" in the middle of the night, I can't help but wonder if I'm doing something wrong?!  Should I let her cry this out, or should I get her like I am?  As parents, we only want to do what is best for our children, but I'm not sure what that is right now and I'm struggling to figure that out.  I hate to hear her cry in the middle of the night, but I also know that I can't continue to get up 2-3 times a night all while keeping my sanity & being productive throughout the day....it's just not possible.

Thoughts?  Ideas?  Advice?  I'll take anything at this point.

...on to Dafney's SIX month appointment.

First off...how the *%&@ did she get to be six months old?  It's crazy!  Most importantly, Dafney is a healthy little girl.  It makes my heart smile knowing that she's healthy!  She did great with the pediatrician & even flashed one of her {flirty} little smiles at him :)

Here are her 6 month STATS:

Weight:  13 pounds 4 ounces - 4th percentile: she might be teeny-tiny, but considering she was born at 6 pounds 2 ounces & left the Hospital at 5 pounds 8 ounces, I'd say she's doing awesome with her weight!

Height:  25.5 inches - 41st percentile:  she's grown a ton!  She started off at 19 3/4 inches (however, when we brought her home & we measured her, she was closer to 17 inches), so she's growing like a weed {hmmm...perhaps another reason she's having trouble sleeping??  Her body could be achy from all the growing she's doing}

Head Circumference:  15 inches - 7th percentile:  she might have a little head, but I'm certain she's a brainiac :)

Overall, her appointment was a complete success.  Other than the leg stabbings shots, everything went perfectly!

Happy six months, Dafney!

Weekend Wrap-Up...Bullet Point Style

How has another weekend come & gone already?  Well, here's my weekend in a nutshell:
  • Dafney still wasn't feeling great come Friday, so I took her to see the Pediatrician Friday morning.  Thankfully nothing major is wrong with her.  Apparently it's not a big deal that she's crapping her pants every 10 minutes...??  The Dr. said she most likely has a virus and it should be gone within TWO freaking WEEKS.  Poor kid.  She actually was acting more like herself over the weekend, so I'm hoping this week we see a turn around with the "messy diapers".  {you're welcome diaper companies for keeping you in business}
  • It was gorgeous this weekend.  The weather was absolutely perfect.  Not to hot, not to cold, not rainy, not windy...plain old perfect.  And we took advantage.  We (and by we, I mean Kyle) did a bunch of yard work.  We pulled a crap-load of weeds, put in some new mulch, finished our garden (for the most part) and mowed the lawn.  The yard is starting to come together nicely.  We have yet to de-weed and mulch the other side of our house, plant a flower garden, repaint the house & garage, stain the fence & patch up some areas in our yard.  Gotta love being a home owner!
  • We hit up this cute, little store called Baby on Grand this weekend.  We had a gift card for Dafney and thought it was time we used it.  We got her a couple books, a fancy new bib & some food storage containers for when I make her "real" food {just what every baby wants, right?}It's this really cute house like store, with all kinds of adorable baby things.  I'd never been & had a very enjoyable first experience there!
  • That's really all we were up to this past weekend...it's sad that I only have three bullet points :(  This next weekend should be interesting.  We have an "out-of-town" (okay, so it's only an hour away) wedding.  It will be the longest car ride we've taken Dafney on.  This will; however, be her second wedding experience.  I'm hoping it will be more successful than the first one...or if nothing else, that the ceremony will be shorter :)  It's a family wedding, so I'm sure we'll play a rousing game of "pass the baby" all night.  I'm hoping she won't have any major meltdowns, doesn't crap her pants before people at least get to see her in her pretty dress and we get at least one cute-sy family photo in before the night's over!  I'm not asking too much, right?
Hope everyone's June is off to a great start!
